Yee-haw, y’all! It’s almost rodeo time in Foley. The 20th Annual Professional Rodeo benefitting Peer Helpers is set for Aug. 3-5 at the Foley Horse Arena, 113 E. Rosetta Ave.
See cowboys and cowgirls from across the South compete in bull riding, calf roping, bronco busting, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing and other events beginning at 6 p.m. each night.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for children 4 to 12, and kids under 3 get in FREE! You can get reserved seating with a seat cushion for $35.
This exciting event also features lots of free kids-zone activities such as an inflatable obstacle course, face painting, games and more. Horseback rides will be available from 7 to 7:45 p.m. Tickets are sold in advance at the Summerdale Western Store on Highway 59 and Frances Holk-Jones State Farm Insurance, 315 E. Laurel Ave. in Foley. Tickets are available each night at the gate.
As part of Rodeo Week, Benefit Barrel Races will be held Aug. 1, with exhibitions at 5 p.m. and the race at 7:30 p.m. The Aug. 5 exhibitions begin at 8 a.m., followed by the race at 10 a.m.
The Peer Helpers program is a program of the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation. Since its inception, the foundation has trained and supported 50 Peer Helpers programs in Baldwin County. About 1,200 students have participated in Peer Helpers, learning to recognize when their peers have a problem, listen to fellow students in confidence, and assist them with struggles.
