Spooky Times in Foley, Alabama

October brings a touch of fall and sometimes a hint of fright as Foley celebrates the return of cooler weather and time for tricks and treats.

HOMETOWN HALLOWEEN

Hometown Halloween returns to Foley on Thursday, Oct. 26 when costumed kids return to the streets of downtown. The celebration takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more than 20 years, Hometown Halloween has been a Foley tradition of family fun that continues to grow.

Hometown Halloween will include a costume contest, inflatable jump house, obstacle course, food concessions, face painting and a balloon artist.The costume contest is always a highlight of the celebration. Children’s costumes will be judged based on creativity and originality.

GRAHAM CREEK NATURE PRESERVE HAUNTED FOREST

The Graham Creek Nature Preserve presents its annual Haunted Forest on Friday and Saturday nights in October. This year, the forest is transformed into a menacing mental hospital and haunted prison. At the entrance, “patients,” are admitted into the mental hospital where they follow hair-raising trails before emerging into the prison where more frights await.

The event is for ages 8 and older, with no exceptions.

Tickets are $20. Deluxe ticket packages, which include a t-shirt, are $40. All proceeds benefit Graham Creek educational programs.

GRAHAM CREEK  NO SCARE WAGON RIDE

For younger participants, or those who do not fancy the chills of the Haunted Forest, Graham Creek Nature Preserve offers the No Scare Wagon Ride from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays in October.This year’s event will begin and end at the Pavilion / Playground area of the park located at 23460 Wolf Bay Dr. Tickets are $5 each with children 2 and younger admitted for free. Tickets are cash only this year. The ride cannot accommodate strollers.

FOLEY PUBLIC LIBRARY HALLOWEEN EXTRAVAGANZA

The Foley Public Library’s Annual Halloween will be Oct. 21 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the library at 319 East Laurel Ave..

The family-friendly carnival will include many games, a live DJ, prizes, inflatables, candy and more. Two food trucks will be on hand selling food and drinks as well as the Kiwanis Club selling snow cones and popcorn. The entire family is welcome for a fun time for all.No RSVP is required. To prepare for the event, the library will be closed to regular visitors on Oct. 21 during its regular hours.

FOLEY WITCHES RIDE

The Society of Black Hats will present its 2023 Foley Witches Ride on Saturday, Oct. 28 starting at 4 p.m. More than 200 witches will ride through the streets of Foley on bicycles and golf carts to raise money for local children and families in need. The event takes place at Heritage Park and through downtown Foley.
