Every year, winter visitors flock to Foley to enjoy mild winters and a budding snowbird community. Curious how winter looks, tastes and feels on the Alabama Gulf Coast?
Stroll along lamppost-lined streets with prominent winter blooms, and cast an eye on the incredible shopping opportunities from thrifting to boutique to unique! You may find joy reading a book in the flower-lined parks of downtown Foley, amid sculptures and landmarks. Or join a snowbird club and become involved as a volunteer.
You’ll find a warm welcome when you arrive, plus a host of events created just for you. These snowbird events acclimate winter visitors, build community, and help create a home-away-from-home feeling. Local businesses look forward to welcoming the active community of winter visitors to the city. We hope you’ll join us at one or all of these events for our upcoming winter season!
The Friends of the Foley Library Bookstore Sale will kick off January 3, from 1 to 4 p.m. Stop in for half-price books on hand-picked selections. You can also get information about volunteering at the library and further supporting this great cause.
We’re always excited for our Foley Snowbird Welcome Coffee, scheduled for January 8, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Civic Center. Hosted by the City of Foley and South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, you’ll find free coffee and doughnuts, plus enjoy a walk through downtown. Don’t miss taking part in the Foley Treasure Hunt to win prizes from local merchants!
Looking to enjoy a plot with entertaining twists? You’ll giggle at the on-stage antics at the South Baldwin Community Theater. Arsenic and Old Lace will premiere the first weekend in January, with shows again the following week. Jack of Diamonds brings another set of fun characters to the stage. It begins the weekend of January 31, with shows running through February 17.
We can’t wait to become reacquainted with our returning visitors and welcome our new winter friends!
